El Teatro Campesino proudly opens its doors to local production company "Hammie y Los Jewels" for a special presentation of "La Factoria." The play features Chona, a recent Mexican immigrant, who works in a factory with six other women who have become her family. Chona sets out to realize her dream of performing stand-up comedy, and in doing so, stirs up feelings of regret and hope in the others. Now everybody’s dreaming! “La Factoria” is a moving, side-splitting look at gender and ethnic stereotypes, spirituality, loss, and dreams.

• How did this all begin?  We, Hammie y Sus Jewels, are a group of social workers who work with each other day in and day out.  We started out entertaining our co-workers for special events, such as Holidayparties, retirements, etc. and her we are.  We are now here before you imparting a dream that has formed into a reality.

• In October 2009, we had the good fortune and blessing to have perfomed at El Teatro Campesino for four consecutive nights.  Each night was sold out!  So, back by public demand, we, with vision in our hearts, with destiny in our hands, with purpose in our souls and with joy in our spirit, we present to you, La Factoria...where dreaming is allowed...
